The Company

SBML is an artist management company, creative business consultancy and publisher.

Formed in the mid eighties, the dominant business activity was initially connected with popular music. The most prominent artist managed at that time was Colin Vearncombe, aka Black. Black was internationally successful during the late eighties, selling more than two million albums worldwide. After turning independent in 1992, Colin continued to write and record his own unique blend of uncompromising lyrics and sophisticated melodic compositions which he performed with a voice of majestic beauty and released through his own label; Nero Schwarz. Colin died as a result of a tragic road accident in January 2016.

In 1991, Steve Baker co-founded the London based creative group tomato and was the group managing director until the end of 2003. Steve currently manages Camilla Griehsel, administer’s Colin Vearncombe’s catalogue and runs Nero Schwarz.

Karen Rainford oversees the record label; Nero Schwarz, the print publishing company; Blip, the creative consultancy; Cibnet and all other business activities. See links for more details.
